The Oscar goes to.........The Newport Film & Celebrity Tour!

A gala at Rosecliff, from the film "True Lies"

Imagine gazing up close at the doorway that "The Great Gatsby" (Robert Redford) entered, or driving down Bellevue Avenue just as Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra did in "High Society," or seeing the very place that Arnold Schwarzenegger dropped in on in "True Lies".

Tammy Fasano at the Visitors' Center, the start of the tour

Newport's romance (and collaboration) with Hollywood and the film industry is long and storied, and tour creator Tammy Fasano has created a unique tour into the making of films in Newport that is both informational and experiential.
Directors like James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, and Wes Anderson have long flocked to Newport as a filming destination, and this tour is designed to see the fabled city "From the Director's chair."

Newport Seen took this tour as filming for "The Discovery", starring Robert Redford, Jason Segal and Rooney Mara was just winding up in town , and what a trip it was.  The riders not only  learned about the films' locations, but saw clips of the movies on a large screen at the front of the van. You are there!

Amistad filmed in Newport

Beginning with "Amistad", which altered the face of Newport's historic Washington and Queen Anne Squares to 18th century, then on to  historic Trinity Church, which was filmed for "Moonrise Kingdom", and the all-over-town locations for "Mr. North".  Ochre Court's grounds were filmed with artificial snow for "True Lies", and  Joaquin Phoenix sat dejectedly in Fastnet Pub. Doris Duke's Rough Point was the location for the TV film "Bernard & Doris", and a trip to Brenton Point, which was the seascape for the  America's Cup epic "Wind" and the road for "Me, Myself and Irene."
