A Few Good Men Honored by WRC at the “Men Who Make a Difference" Gala

The Annual Gala honoring the Best of Men, a recognition hosted annually by The Women’s Resource Center, was advertised as a ceremony for the honorees, plus dinner and dancing. But it is always so much more.


A great party, with ladies and gentlemen in formal wear, an auction, fabulous music and dancing, with music this year by The Boston Premier Band, it is always an Event.

Taylor Britto, a Providence Police officer who is also associate pastor and founder of the Journey Through Faith Community Center and a 2015 “Men Who Make a Difference” honoree, was the inspiring  keynote speaker. Daniel Baker, a teacher at St. Philomena School in Portsmouth, was master of ceremonies. Carol Ryan, a member of WRC’s board of directors and development committee,was chair of the event.

“Through the work we do at Women’s Resource Center, we have a deep appreciation for people who are willing to get involved in their community or who serve as a role model, mentor or inspiration to someone else,” says Lori DiPersio, executive director of the WRC. “This annual event is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to some special men who make a difference in the lives of others while also helping us continue our mission and services to women, children and men in Newport and Bristol Counties.”

The honorees are all men who have done outstanding good deeds in their community, and  were celebrated for their accomplishments. It's an honor to honor them. More than 270 guests attended the Gala making it a smashing success! Sponsors were Blue Cross Blue Shield, Bowen’s Wharf, BWM of Newport and the Rhode Island Turnpike & Bridge Authority
